VOLUNTEER & SUPPORT OPPORTUNITIES
First Friday Lunches Return - October 6th

We're kicking off this year's beloved First Friday Lunch tradition with a taco bar on Friday, October 6th!  Please help us show the amazing West Sylvan teachers and staff how much we appreciate them by clicking here to select a food item to bring for the table, or donating to the effort.

New to West Sylvan and wondering what First Friday is all about?  You can read more about this monthly staff appreciation tradition here.

Thank you for your help with keeping this amazing tradition alive!  It couldn’t happen without help from all of you.

All food contributions should be delivered to the main office by 9:15 on Friday, Oct. 6th.  Items can be homemade or store-bought.

Community Cares Day - This Saturday

Please come help spruce up West Sylvan this Saturday! Everyone is welcome to come help pull some weeds, spread some mulch and make the school look great. No need to register, just bring your gloves and show up anytime between 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Support the Counseling Snack Pantry

Our counseling office maintains a snack pantry where students who experience food insecurity can grab snacks throughout the day and bring some home. Please consider donating funds or snacks - your dollar and snack donations will go far!

Spirit Wear

West Sylvan spirit wear is available to purchase at anytime on our website or come visit our table at Back To School Night on October 5th!

All proceeds from sales of Spirit Wear support the scholars and staff at West Sylvan.

PARENT EDUCATION
Mental Health Matters - Stories, Strategies, Solutions

Join us on October 4th at Lincoln High School for a night dedicated to raising awareness about our students' mental health. Presented by our students, they will share day-to-day experiences, struggles, strategies, and valuable resources related to mental health, substance abuse, and suicide prevention.

The students will present their stories alongside a panel of medical professionals, counselors, and community members who have battled substance abuse and mental illness.

West Sylvan and Lincoln students, parents, alumni, community members, teachers, and administrators are all welcome and encouraged to attend.

WOLFPACK PHOTO OF THE WEEK

Lily Sachse and Mira Seidel, 7th graders in Mr. Hashimoto's Science class, took on his challenge and recreated the Periodic Table out of 118 cupcakes! (Pretty sure Mr. H was looking for some treats for himself and staff!)

Have a photo of members of the Wolfpack in action at WSMS we can share? Send it to us to be included in our newsletters! hi@friendsofwestsylvan.org

FoWS WOLFPACK SHOUT OUT

A big FoWS Wolfpack thank you to 7th grade parent, Susan Dodson for arranging a fun 'Coffee with the Principal' event! We had a great turnout, wonderful coffee and met a lot of new faces to West Sylvan. It was a great morning!
